What was the best experience of your Tech Industry Gold accredited degree apprenticeship?

Developing my final year project was definitely a highlight, as I was able to draw on my experience and knowledge to create a technical solution to a real-world problem. It was a truly great experience. I also enjoyed the final year modules on AI where I learned how to use deep learning and data analytics to create prediction models.

What was the most challenging experience of your Tech Industry Gold accredited degree apprenticeship?

The most challenging experience was finding a balance between work and university in the first year. When I first started the degree, I was part of a 24/7 shift, however with support from IBM I was able to move into a role that allowed for an easier work/life balance.

What would you say now, to yourself, before you enrolled on your Tech Industry Gold accredited degree apprenticeship?

I would encourage myself to go through with the enrolment. The experience of being part of the pilot scheme meant there were still a lot of unknowns and uncertainties, however these were overcome and the four years have been a great experience which  I couldn’t rate more highly.

What would you say to anyone considering a Tech Industry Gold accredited degree apprenticeship?

I would encourage them to enrol! The Tech Industry Gold accredited degree apprenticeship offers the best of both worlds. The work experience I’ve gained over the last 4 years was invaluable and the degree apprenticeship accreditation provides industry-wide accepted evidence of the learning I’ve completed. There are times when it can be hard work, but the results at the end were definitely worth it.

What are you planning to do this summer?

I’ll be working through the summer but plan to get away later in the year.
