I work at Lloyds Banking Group and have just finished my Tech Industry Gold accredited degree apprenticeship at Manchester Metropolitan University. I found the beginning of my digital degree apprenticeship quite difficult due to the initial adjustment, but after that early shock I have grown into the programme and really enjoyed it. The final year has been challenging, but incredibly rewarding.
The support at Manchester Met has been invaluable all the way through the Tech Industry Gold accredited degree apprenticeship. I couldn’t have done it without them. I’ve really enjoyed doing an accredited programme that will be recognised throughout the world.
One part of the programme that I found most useful was report writing, it’s something that comes up regularly at work day-to-day and having the confidence to communicate effectively with people at all levels has been invaluable. Other aspects such as web design and programming aren’t always part of my regular role, but it was great to get a hands-on experience of them and use them in a consultancy dynamic.
I had previously done a Level 3 apprenticeship, and now my Degree Apprenticeship, so my next progression would hopefully be a Master’s. My role in general has matched really well with what we did at university and my responsibility and accountability has increased year-on-year. It’s all been a really good learning experience and my next step is to become a subject matter expert in the field I’m currently working in.
I’ve got much higher levels of responsibility now than I did at the beginning of the apprenticeship and I’ve got team members that rely on me for information which has been an nice outcome.
I highly recommend the Tech Industry Gold accredited degree apprenticeship at Manchester Metropolitan University.
