Huge congratulations to Jenny Taylor of IBM, and Chair of the Tech Industry Gold Degree Apprentices Community and Chair of the Trailblazer Group for the BSc Digital and Technology Solutions level 6 degree apprenticeship, for winning Apprentice Champion of 2020 in the London Region Awards.
The Summer Institute was created in 2018 by the Tech Allies Network to give students an insight into multiple industries, enabling them to make more informed decisions about their future careers. Find out more about this year’s programme which took place online.
“I would recommend going on a placement as it’s a great way to get some insight into the professional work environment and to also help you find your career path as it’s made me realise what I want to do in the future”.
“Anyone considering doing a year’s placement should definitely seize the opportunity,” says Tech Industry Gold student Stefan Dupey-Whyte, who is studying at Loughborough University and completed a placement at HSBC.
“I think a Tech Industry Gold Degree Apprenticeship is a smart career move, as you really get the best of both worlds (learning/job experience), and I would recommend it highly.”
“Enjoy every moment of the journey. Appreciate the successes but more importantly, learn from the failures. Never be content and always strive for improvement!”
“I am really proud of my decision to do a degree apprenticeship. It allowed me to implement what I learn at university at my workplace and vice versa which really helped me to learn new technologies quickly. It has made me realise what I am capable of and has increased my self-confidence.”
“For me, the best experience was when my class was split into groups and we had the task of coming up with a tech solution to a real-world problem. I came up with the idea of using an app to help solve the issue of overcrowding in Barcelona.”
“People need to realise how beneficial the Tech Industry Gold degree apprenticeships are for organisations and individuals!”
