Bio: Mike Greenway, OBE, Cassidian

Mike has held several senior positions for a number of major companies with the latter part of his career dedicated to turning Cogent (now Cassidian Ltd) into a major force in South Wales employing over 800 now in Newport. This has been a major transformation over the last year 10 years morphing a manufacturing based business of less than 200 people into a Systems Integrator with a 10 fold increase in turnover of £125m. He has played a major role in the process as a Deputy MD responsible for the Quality & process, Communications, Change Management, Marketing & Commercial Directorates.

He has a direct insight into the Knowledge Economy with a particular context in the communications network and secure information infrastructure industry.

Since returning to his original profession as Commercial Director he has focused on the twin challenges of defining the function and operating in a collaborative approach to business as signaled by the recently published Defence Information Strategy. He now acts as a Senior Consultant to the Commercial Directorate working part time with a specific emphasis as the Open Innovation Champion

He was awarded the OBE for services to Welsh Industry in the 2009 New Years Honours List.
